North American TSN analyst and former National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender Martin Byron dedicated words of appreciation for Vancouver “Canucks” goalkeeper Artūrs Shilovs.
It has already been announced that last night the Canucks beat the Nashville Predators 1-0 in the sixth match of the first round of the playoff tournament, thus celebrating the victory in the entire series with a score of 4-2. Shilov saved all 28 shots in this match.
“I have never seen such a scenario as performed by Shilov before. Let's remember that he played only four games in the NHL regular season and only nine games in total in the last two years,” said Byron.
“What Shilov did in the sixth game of the series was impressive because he was really under pressure. Almost the entire regular time was played with a score of 0:0. Every episode and save was important, but he was very good in both positioning and rebounding very skillfully. Shilov did not give Nashville hockey players two, three or four chances in front of the goal. He handled the rebounds very, very quickly, his attitude was such that he showed confidence. For a guy who had participated in only nine NHL duels before these “play-off” matches – this is very impressive,” said the analyst.
