Graudiņa and Samoilova's failure in the round of 16 of the BPT “Elite16” tournament in Brazil

Latvian athletes Tīna Graudiņa and Anastasija Samoilova suffered a loss in the round of 16 of the professional beach volleyball tour (BPT) “Elite16” tournament in Brazil on Saturday. The ninth-seeded Latvians in the tournament lost 0-2 (16:21, 12:21) to the Chinese pair Xue Chen/Xia Xinyi (7th).

The Latvians conceded to their opponents in all indicators – attack (10:13), block (1:2), serve (0:1) and mistakes made (7:3). Graudiņa scored five of the six points in the attack, and one in the block, committing five errors. Samoilova scored all five points on offense, committing five errors.

Graudiņa scored five points in 11 attacks and had four errors, and also committed one error in six serves and received five serves without errors. In 13 attacks, Samoilova scored five points and had three errors, one error on five serves, and one of 17 service errors.

For the Chinese, Xue scored five points in attack, two – with a block and one – with a serve, but made three errors. Xia scored all eight points on offense without making a single mistake. In the tournament, the Latvian couple won ninth place and accumulated 600 world ranking points.

It has already been reported that in Group A the Latvian women lost 1-2 (21:18, 19:21, 10:15) to world leaders Eduarda Lisboa and Ana Patricia Silva from Brazil, who are seeded number one in the tournament, with 2-0 (21 :19, 21:17) defeated the Frenchmen Clemens Vierais and Alina Chamero (16th), who overcame the qualification tournament, and with 2-1 (16:21, 21:15, 15:10) defeated the German Svenja Müller and Sinja Tillmann ( 8.).

With two wins in three games, Graudiņa/Samoilova ranked second in the subgroup. In March, Graudiņa/Samoilova won the “Challenge” ranking tournament in Recife in Brazil. In the “Pro Beach Tour” ranking, the first is the “Elite 16” competition, the second – the “Challenge”, the third – the “Futures” competition.
